Is it just me, or are ads just not as good as they were?
I remember the era of the Pepsi ads with all the celebrities – they were the talk of that time! Guess we’ll blame it on the recession.

From the website of this boutique hotel, it seems magical. I think this would be a great idea to those of you that may stay longer in the city. But keep in mind – it is pretty upscale!
Basically, its a collection of 10 serviced apartments that go from 150 to 300 squared meters ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms. The service include a daily housekeeper, valet and an “extensive concierge worthy of a 5-star hotel”. It also seems like its packed with high-tech amenities (which is rare in paris), and the location is beautiful. It is located on the Place du Trocadero in the 16th district – this comes with an amazing view of the eiffel tower.
At first, I was a bit put down by the fact that they do not offer room service, but the location spares you that. You are basically in the heart of some of the best coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. Plus, the apartments are equipped with fully-functional kitchens for those of you that like to do it your way.
In conclusion, I am a fan of the art deco/modern style this hotel has taken on. I like the surrounding location and the concept that is not the typical “see-and-be-seen” style that I’m a bit bored of. I would personally rather spend a couple of hours in the buzz of people but come back to a quiet and comfortable home, than constantly live in such a scenery. I will surely check it out as soon as I can!
I acted this song back when I was in kindergarden.. Still remember it as if it were yesterday!

FACT OF THE DAY:
VCR video players are stupid! Recently, I got a video tape to watch. In order to do that, it took me around 2 hours to plug a player that is still alive to a TV and get the wires right. After all that, I spent a good 15 minutes clicking on the “tracking” button just to get the thing to work without scrambling. Off course, the thing never worked and I ended up wasting around 2.5 hours of my life today. What a lame device you are.

I know people read blogs to entertain themselves. And sometimes, some topics are just not so entertaining – but truth hurts. And some awareness won’t do much harm once in a while..
In Kuwait, many live a life others only get to see on TV. Drivers, cooks, nannies and house boys roaming all around them, just to make their life easier. But we are facing a problem with this lifestyle. Many people forget that these people – who have left their homes and families – are humans, just like we are. Some of us complain if worked for 10 hours one day, but forget that we have someone working 24 hours a day everyday at home. And when they get home, the orders just keep on shooting at these servants like a tennis-ball launcher.
Recently I have been reading up on Queen Nazli of Egypt, and I was amazed at her life story (I guess I’ll dedicate a post to that soon). Basically, she once lived as one of the wealthiest and most luxurious women of all time with 3 titles to her name, and the biggest and most valuable jewelry collection in the world. Years later, she ended up exiled, dead in a studio apartment in New York as a poor old woman. Her story kept me thinking.
Money comes and goes, and what goes around comes around.

Lebanon was in need of this!
Le Gray Hotel is located in the Martyr Square just in front of the Hariri Mosque in downtown Beirut. Its a Campbell Gray Hotel. The same chain that has the One Aldwych Hotel in London and the Carlisle Bay in Antigua. Im typing this in the hotel. So many things I like about this place. The rooms for one, very spacious. The bathrooms? I think you can turn in into a kids football field from its size. Their service is impeccable. For example, I called room service to order an extra pillow, within 5 minutes I had two men standing outside my room holding two pillows asking which size I wanted. Wow! And when you walk in and out of the hotel, the staff try to make it a point to call you by your name. I love how they make you feel part of the hotel through their service.
I also liked the fact that you don’t need to go through the hassle of plugging in a user name and password for the internet. Im guessing that means its free – nevertheless, its convenient! Also, the restaurant and lounge on the upper floors and really cool! And you have gotta check out their infinity glass pool.
The only downside to the hotel is the noise you hear from the streets beside you. Do not take rooms that are on the main street, that should minimize that..
But overall, wonderful!

We have come so far with medicine and technology, didn’t anyone come up with an instant cure for jet lag?
Paris and Kuwait are only have a 2 hour time difference. Yet, I’m suffering from jet lag. I tried a bit of light therapy, getting into bed earlier than usual, and using every natural sleep method I know – but it still wont work! My internal clock is messed up! I’m waking up after 11pm and sleeping after 1am even though I’m in bed by 11.. Disaster
